Sierra Tools JB4840 Battery Operated Liquid Transfer Pump CustomerReview

I now own 4 of these gadgets. They're the greatest little transfer pump I've found for the price! I've tried two types of transfer pumps prior to finding this product by Sierra Tools. Both of the other, hand-operated pumps broke, leaked, or wouldn't work - practically right out of the box. I tried one of these 2 years ago, and liked it so well, I've purchased 3 more. I use two for gasoline, one for diesel, and one for pumping water in and out of my aquariums. They're also very handy for removing the majority of the gas from the lawnmowers and snowblower for seasonal storage. But the best part is - no more trying to dump 5 gallons of gas or diesel from an unwieldy, heavy, can down some un-cooperative, plastic, pour spout into a 1 1/2-inch hole! I always managed to get more on me, the mower, and the ground/grass than I did down the dang tank-hole! Those days are over!

The only slight problem I've encountered is that the diesel fuel softened the plastic, retaining ring on the pump discharge hose and the hose began slipping off the pump too easily during use. A simple, stainless hose clamp solved that problem. I've also found I think can extend the life of the batteries if I unscrew the top of the handle a few turns after use (until the pump won't operate when the button is pressed) in order to isolate the batteries from the pump circuitry or simply remove the batteries when not using the pump.
